Awesome, thanks guys. I'll test fit the new headers on my spare head first. Unfortunately the engine is already in the car so I guess I'll have fun with the install :-/

I used the Ebay header as well and it hit my subframe and my floor/firewall.
I had to tweak the thing quite a bit to clear the floor, and also heat and bend my subframe.
Im OBD1 so I used o2 sensor plugs in the original holes and made a "collector" out of a stainless y-pipe and welded a bung in that position.
Works good except the cars so low the collector and flange like to scrape. Actually the other day it caught on a manhole cover and ripped my revshift engine mount

I hope that's because you're running the revshift mounts... :-/ I'm fine with some fabrication or adjustment, but the easier the better.1997 540i/6 - stock

Ok, with the pics working I'm really hoping the revshift mounts just sit lower. Either way, they look like they fit much better than my current racelands.
I almost bought those. I *think* the speed daddy ones are the same but it's hard to tell.I bought these; zero fitment issues other than the useless O2 bung placement. Build thread & pics coming soon.1997 540i/6 - stock

Since my revshift mounts broke, Im installing AKG's asap, I have them, but Im just waiting for time to get it in the shop.. Hopefully the header fits much better with these mounts.
Also, agent, those are the exact headers I have. What mounts did you use?Comment

No the speed daddy have a smaller diameter. But I bought these same ones http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130914250954
I never installed them as I sold my fully built m3 engine to another member here to fix my 2008 4runner that I wrecked.

ah, well as long as the speed daddy ones fit I'm good. These are only temporary anyway. Plus back of the envelope calculations show that 2x1.75 shouldn't be anywhere close to a flow restriction anyway:
Area = pi*d
d = 1.75"
area = 2*(3.14*1.75") = 10.99"^2
I'll be running single 3" exhaust which is sizable.
area = 3"*3.14 = 9.42"^2 or less than 2x1.75"1997 540i/6 - stock

Update: they "fit". Some mild bashing is needed for them to clear the passenger side footwell. I mostly bashed in the exhaust tubing past the collector rather than trash my floor. And holy hell is it hard to install headers with the engine in, lol.1997 540i/6 - stock

I have some questions regarding this ebay header:

I noticed this header blocks the holes for the SAP. Do these holes need to be shut by weld or would the ebay headers just block the holes?Comment
-
The hole for the air pump is all in the factory OBDII headers. These ebay headers will not have any holes for the air pump (no holes you have to block if you are not running the air pump).

I noticed bimmerworld sells delete kits for the air pump holes, but I don't think these will work with the ebay headers because they don't have the holes drilled. If i just use the provided gasket from these headers, it will block the hole completely?
Also which header set looks more preferable to r3v? They look almost identical, but the manufacturer seems to be different. The angles on the tubes are different.. M2 one looks a bit more compact and maybe have better fitment?
