i want to manually control the fan on low/high (like when parked to help it cool off) and i want the fan to come on automatically on low at 195 (sound about right?) and on high at 215.
those $50 fans on ebay are a nice find, much better than doing a $55 sachs cluth fan replacement, can they fit on an A/C car though??
i went with a single speed 13" SPAL pusher fan. mounted right to the front of the radiator. (no A/C)
wired it up to come on with the low temp radiator switch even when the key is off, so if you park your car hot, the fan stays on until the low temp switch shuts off.
I also used the AC switch as a manual switch to turn it on for any reason if the temp switch hasnt kicked it on yet.
the ultimate set up IMHO. super quiet, PLENTY of air, perfect wiring set up. i'd reccomend this to everyone.
nope, single speed. hooked up to come on at low temp
Dan, could you give a little more detail of exactly how you wired the fan? Did you use the stock E30 fan switch that mounts on the stock E30 electric fan? I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to do the cooling on my car and want to get a better idea of what you have in my head. Thanks.

why don't you ask your friend steve or superdooper bobbycooper, he's good with electricals
i used the coolant temp switch that's on the side of the radiator, break out the diagram and find the low temp wire and the ground, basically you just use this switch to connect the ground side of the fan circuit. i have a wiring diagram drawn out by hand, but it took me a while and i dont feel like giving my information away :)
if you read what i wrote on the last page and break out the wiring diagram you should have no problems wiring this thing up. as long as you know how to wire relays and dont forget an in line fuse.
IIRC the CFM is just a tad lower than the SPAL ones.
I quickly found two 10's is huge overkill. I have them both on a manual switch right now, its sounds like my car is an airplane about to take off when I flip them on. I am usually running at 170-180 tops degrees in F.
I think the best plan for me anyways, is to have one start with the car, and have the other kick on at around 200F. I also picked up a fan-switcher-oner-thing-based-on-a-temp that I will hook up. You can set it to any temp you want then have a fan or fans kick on.
anyone try using the lower temp fan switch (80/88c) and the stock AC fan? supposedly it flows a ton of air.. that's my plan for now.
Do you have a part# for the lower temp fan switch?
Anyone know what CFM the stock fan moves? its a big honker, and the electric motor is pretty large as well.
