Oil leak between head and block?!. I have done more head gaskets than I care to think about and haven't had to do one for that reason.Leave a comment:

They were finishing up the last few things and while the car was running they noticed an oil leak from between the head and the block. Im gutted. I've taken every precaution to make sure this is done right so that I dont have problems and its been one thing after another. Im committed at this point and dont have a way out without losing my ass on it.Leave a comment:

I was supposed to fly up and get the car this weekend, but that isnt happening. instead, the head is coming off and my bill will continue to growLeave a comment:

BTW the M52 crank is less prone to harmonic issues in my experience. Im revving my track car to 7500.Leave a comment:

thanks, Im also very eager. Its been over 6 months since Ive been able to daily drive this car. I drove it every once in a while since it still ran, but it was very limited because it would start to overheat after ~5 miles. I still have a TON of respect and love for the M20 motor.
the motors are out there and can be had for cheap. I bought the bare long block with S52 cams and a S52 crank for a very reasonable price.
Im into this build a LOT more than Id care to admit, but I will have a great setup when Im done and that is worth every dollar spent.
I purchased my plane ticket back to Seattle, flying in on 10/4 and then the road trip home begins. Im excited, anxious and nervous because Ive been anticipating this moment for months now. I never expected this build to take this long, but at one point I decided I wanted to do it 100% right and not regret not doing anything. There are a few things that I already plan on changing but they are simple upgrades that can be done later.
oh btw :early:Leave a comment:

thanks Ian! It was tough to do it this way, but I'll be back in a month and it should be ready to go then...

the next time I see it, it will have a 2.8, instead of the 2.7 :)

and sadly this was as far as I got with the motor... not very close. I did what I could and Im leaving the rest for the experts

Cool to see the progress thus far. Sucks you have to move before completion.Leave a comment:
