If you got the yellow crap I have, you need to soak a rag in acetone and rub away. Wearing gloves preferably ;).Comment

Getting any of the cosmoline off is just a matter of elbow grease. Get some acetone, paint thinner, simple green, etc... and a brush and start scrubbing. My question for all you guys out there is: can you safely wash the bay with running water? I've heard of people doing it, some say you can use pressure and some say just a hose. Any input?Comment

It's getting there slowly...the main problem is a few little side projects happening along with the transplant...e.g. parallel flow a/c condensor and the VAC remote oil filter housing...they've both created a lot of small jobs. Then there's the MSEFI...
...oh, and a general congrats to all those who've finished their swaps...being about 1/2 way through mine, I'm getting a good appreciation for the hours 24V E30s can burn up in the build process.Comment

Just some side-q's, what motor mounts are those? They look like the same round-E34 type I tried that didnt work. Do they mate up to the arms for you? I just got some of the proper green mounts from the US (finally!) That was another two weeks...
Also what hoses are you using between the engine and heater core? This is giving me trouble. Everything I've tried kinks like crazy.
Back on topic, that bay is beautiful! Aluminium is superior!Comment

I ended up using an E30 hose from the head to the heater, and E36 hose from the pump to the heater. I'm pretty sure the part numbers are:
WATER HOSE INLET 64211380527
HOSE F RADIATOR AND ENGINE RETURN 11531703844
And yeah...I'm loving the alloy too (assuming it gives me no problems!).Comment

It works, but it's definitely not pretty, yet.
Still waiting on my wiring harness cover, i'm also thinking of re-painting my motor bay, but not too sure.
