    Getting BAR'd Certified, Fail... HELP!

    So I'm trying to pass my 91 318is with an s50 to pass the BAR test but I keep failing emissions. First time I took it, I warmed it for about an hour and when I got to the referee I kept it on. I was on stock e36 cats and resonator. First time I failed. 2 months later after I switched the plugs, oil filter I took it again to the referee and I failed again. So I thought I would change the cats. So I got new cats (Walker 80801, Suppose to be direcct fit for the 95 e36 M3), and a month later I took it again. Warmed it up the same way I did the first time. Not only did I failed the smog, referee said I got the wrong cats:hitler:. I was pissed. He saying that the cats are the wrong ones and that this year only uses one cat not two?? I didn't really pay attention after the test failed, but he said he called BMW and that they told him that the e36 M3 comes with 4 cats. His his book says that the cats I bought are for one cat cars or something like that. He said I also probably failed because of the cats being the wrong ones.

    My question is for people that are BAR'd and have aftermarket cats, what cats did you use?

    Parts replaced;
    O2 sensor
    Spark plugs
    Oil
    Cats
    Air filter
    19.5# Pink Injectors.

    Here are the Smog test results.

    1st test

    15MPH= RPM(1755), %CO2(14.5), %O2(0.3), HC PPM(85/256), CO%(0.50/0.49), NO PPM(695/1550) FAIL
    25MPH= RPM(2878), %CO2(14.7), %O2(0.0), HC PPM(50/66), CO%(0.47/0.18), NO PPM(717/107) FAIL

    2nd test (oil change, spark plugs, air filter changed, OEM e36 M3 cats)

    15MPH= RPM(1720), %CO2(14.7), %O2(1.3), HC PPM(85/205), CO%(0.50/0.52), NO PPM(695/661) FAIL
    25MPH= RPM(2856), %CO2(14.8), %O2(0.0), HC PPM(50/78), CO%(0.47/0.21), NO PPM(717/73) FAIL

    3rd test (walker 80801 cats)

    15MPH= RPM(1752), %CO2(14.9), %O2(0.3), HC PPM(85/158), CO%(0.50/0.18), NO PPM(695/474) FAIL
    25MPH= RPM(2854), %CO2(15.0), %O2(0.0), HC PPM(50/82), CO%(0.47/0.04), NO PPM(717/15) FAIL

        you can't pass with that, the shit load of HC (hydrocarbons) means your chip is (as designed) dumping more fuel in the mixture for the power gains...

              if you are running stock cams and injectors then I wouldn't see why not... I would also limit the driving as rich mixes ruin cats early...

                    that could also be your problem.... you have to start with taking the fuel map back to stock then see if CATS are 'efficient' .. in Ontario the testing is as anal as Cali's..

                          Pink injectors on an otherwise stock S50 plus aftermarket tune means lots of fuel being dumped, and high HC.

                          Do you have access to green tops and a stock chip?
