    s50/s52 e30 swaps are awesome

I just pulled my e30 m3/s50 out of storage last week. Priorities shifted this summer, but I'm glad that I'm getting it out for at least a couple months before the snow comes back. I only got about 1k miles on the motor before I put it away last year. I almost forgot about what I was missing... I LOVE IT!!!!! Can we swear here?? I F#!?K$?!NG can't get enough of this car. It's so damn quick. Too damn cool for school.

If you're thinking about doing this swap...just do it!! And for those of you working on a swap, get it done! Now!

i'm kinda halfway there-just sorting out w/c booster i'll use-ix or 320i, finish the wiring harness then drop the s52 in.
i just finish the obd2 to obd1 conversion on the s52 and drilled/tapped the head for the temp sensor.
can't wait to finish her-maybe in 2 to 3 weeks:-)

kinda miss this view but it's long gone/sold:

can't wait until i drive her again:

I really can't wait to finish up my S50B32 swap. My M50 swap car was a hoot, but this one should be down right mean!

Porsche 924/944 booster is the way to go and you can use your stock E30M30 M/C. It mounts perfectly and you just have to cut down the shaft to the proper length (same threads as you E30 clevis). Don't even bother with a 320i booster.

youre going to love it. yes, it will be downright MEAN. the steps from an s52obd1 to the euro was very noticable......from m50 to euros50b32....thats not even in the same ballpark. cant believe i put mine up for sale. i know im going to regret it.

              cheers, jason

i get withdrawals whenever i don't drive the car for longer than 2 days. End of july i rented a pontiac grand prix for a roadtrip to US (the disconnection from the road felt pretty scary on Pennsylvanian curved highways, but that's another story) .. anyway, as soon as i returned home (after 9hr drive) i had to jump back into my toy - and goddamn it felt good - it felt like the torque of the grand prix had stayed but all the heavy weight was gone and i could feel the road once again.

... now if i could only shut the exhaust up

Doing an s52 swap right now :), my motor is getting shipped to me right now. Just bought a wiring harness and sensors from vr4boy. All I need now is ecu and 2 knock sensors, someone hook it up! I can't wait it's going to be ridiculously fun.

An s50.52 converted E30 will not get passed a new Carrera that does 0-60 in 4.2 and 1.4 in 12.6:)

I've had my 318i for one year now. It's been in the garage for nine months, been up on jackstands for two months, sitting beside an engine stand and three crates of odb1 parts (mani's, harnesses, pans, sensors, etc.) The s52 has been on order via a wrecker I have a connection thru ( fair price ) and should pick up late this month. I can't wait to get this winter project going. I really hope to surprise a lot of people, myself included. A long winter of ordering parts and evenings after work in the garage. I can't wait, did I say that already?

Oh, and aside from about 2 weeks of foul running m10 in my e30, one day in a friend's and twenty min in a customer at my shop's 92 325ic m-tech vert w/ hardtop, I have virtually no seat time behind the wheel of my car. I cant wait, yeah I said it again, any the above posts are reassurance enogh that I have made the right choice and patience is a virtue.

Edit: well, maybe not a new porsche, as mentioned above, but I'm happy to know of the ability to get at a non zo6 vette, various sti's, evo's, every damn bumblebee civic/rsx, and most middle class mid life crisis icons is enough for me on a sub 15k budget.

That's not me in the article. Those cars belong to a couple local guys that happen to live fairly close to me. Kinda wish I had my swap done a year earlier and I might have been able to squeeze into that article with them... But then I might have been pounced on by all of the s14 purist out there. Steve and Bob are a couple cool guys. It was very nice to have been able to look over their cars while I was in the process of doing my swap.

Yeah. A new Carrera would kill a US S50/2 E30, and a C5 walks away slowly, at least from mine.

They're not that fast guys, seriously. I love my car and all, but its only just barely as quick as a bone stock 335i. Regardless, its plenty of motor for the track, and mine is done as far as engine mods go. Now just need more grip and brakes.
