I just finished the swap to an M50. The car is quicker than before but not really "fast".

I still live in fear of Acuras and souped-up Neons.

Best part is broader torque and more pull down low, plus I all have all the "stuff" and experience for an S motor in the future.

speaking of Neons I had a SRT 4 pull on me the other day. They are fast little cars and they are everywhere around here.

                  Nice. I killed a buddy's 375 fwhp turbo'd integra a few weeks ago.

Is stock m52 much faster than m50? What would you suggest?
I have 318is now. Great car, revs not very fast and that's why I am thinking of m50 or m52. S motors for now are not in my budget.

Truth. Don't waste money getting an M50 near what the S50 makes stock.

Coming from a 318 I suppose you could justify the swap, but S50/S52s are just going to get cheaper.

well i have some S50 cams in storage so i supose i might just run the S50 cams and the turner softwhare to run them in the m50 and with intake and straight pipes & exhaust i think i should be good for power let me know what you guys think

Just put a DA super charger on your car for now. With that it will keep up with E36 M3's anyway. I believe GRM's car dynoed at 200 whp with the DA setup. Stock S5x's put down around 210 iirc.

S5x or no DOHC. M5x just seems half-assed. For the cost of an M5x swap you could have a hell of an M20.

Honestly, its not worth the effort unless you are swapping in an S motor.

go s50 or s52 they pull alot harder then m5x's but if your going to turbo i would go with the m50 becausle you can boost to about 15 psi
