    E34 wiring harnes/ecu question

i am looking at a couple of e34's for parts to do my 24v swap. both cars are 92's. one manual, the other is auto. i am told i need to run the red label 413 ecu. which i believe was not available until 93 or 94. can i use this harness with that ecu? i would prefer to buy the manual trans car over the auto, because i think the parts would be easier to sell. unfortunately the manual trans car is more expensive. any advice would be appreciated.

Manual harness is a little easier to do the swap with. Also i could be wrong but im pretty sure any of the m50's w/ vanos came with a 413 red or silver label. Either you can use since im sure you will be chipping it anyways. The first run of e34's with vanos was september 92.

IIRC, e36 harness is a bit of a better choice due to length for the ecu installation.

Those 92's are non vanos. You'll have to use the stock ecu.

Actually 92 was the first year of m50 vanos, as stated in my first post.

September 1992 production would be a 93 model.

RED LABEL 413!!!!! silver = ews which will need a chip to bypass this function.

But if your gonna be chipping it anyway than this shouldnt matter correct? Which one is more desirable?

/\ It will cost about 50 bucks more to have your chipped formatted too a silver lable ecu.

Not true! I had a silver label with no EWS. It was out of a '94. After '95 they had EWS.

Uh, no, it says the date your car was manufactured on the vin tag. Have you ever looked at real OEM? Thats why stuff like this have a date of 9/92 and up.

Uhh yeah... because any car made after 9/92 would be a 93.

I really wish some of you guys would get an understanding about how EWS actually works instead of just reposting the same BS you read in the big thread or wherever.

you're retarded. And wrong. All 1992's were non-vanos. Yes, production of 1993 models began on september 92, but that is not relevant.

whats confusing? two choices here? 1. red label = no chip to delete ews
                              2. silver label= chip to delete ews. (unless its a pre 95 silver label) Now if your doing something special to the engine such as cams, inj, hfm...etc etc then yes when you get the chip for the above & at the same time they can do whats needed to delete ews function.

Now if this is wrong someone needs to correct this because its all over the 24v swap sticky. I have a red label along with many others with no issues or modifications needed for a stock m50b25.
