    Dyno graphs from RMS...interesting results

    Motor: '98 OBD1 s52 w/ 68k miles

    Mods: OBD1 manifold, ebay headers, 540 hfm, 24# injectors, ltw flywheel (13lb), 2.5 exhaust, and Turner chip for mods listed.

    After looking at the BFC dyno graphs, I see that my tune runs pretty rich up top, robbing me of peak power after 5000 rpm. I will be getting some cams reground to Schrick specs and send for the $100 tune upgrade from Turner.

    Osh said that my car had 20-25whp left in it from a better tune, but i will see how the tune is for the cams when I get it. Any ideas other then the tune?

    thats depressing, yet promising.

    If "your car embarrasses the rich folk" with only 200 at the wheels, I can't imagine/wait to see what it feels like when yours is running properly (and when mine is finally done!)

      Ya I was pretty shocked, but it made sense. I don't make much power after 5k so I always shift by 6k. I wish Turner could lean the chip out for me and smooth out my AFRs.

        .... 204 at the wheels...? Hopefully you get the right tune this time around. Damn.... I'm scared to dyno my car now.... My car pulls like hell after 5k though. The chip I have right now is a CSS chip tuned for intake/exhaust/24lb/3.5hfm/ews delete. Was for a 1995 s50 with the same mods, hopefully it'll be good for my obd1 s52 seems like it so far...

          M54 dyno

          Wow, mine is actually very similar to yours even with stock e30 exhaust and a hobbled VANOS system. Can't wait to see what it's really capable of!

            I want Osh to fix it now, but I'd rather have him fine tune my car after i get the cams and new chip in.

              Question, when they dyno, do they factor in your whp based on gear ratios/tranny combos? Or is it totally irrelavant? Would I be better off dyno'ing with a 2.93 lsd/ZF or a 3.73 lsd/ZF?

                  Yikes, those numbers seem pretty depressing for an OBD-I S52.

                    What kind of dyno? Its fairly useless to compare peak #'s unless they were done on the same dyno under similar conditions.

                    Oh, and please don't have your car "tooned" by RMS.

                      Why not? Osh has been working on s50/2 motors for years now, and did a great job retuning E30 Fiend's Mark D Chip! He was able top get another 10whp on top of the Mark D tune. And yes i heard about the blown motors on the m5 and the m3.

                        But it has quite a bit of potential with how rich it's running up top. :D

                              We run a clayton dyno calibrated to mustang dyno specs.
