I'm pretty the ABL Originals uses DTA S100, which would give you the ability to retain dual Vanos.
Great work! There has been a LOT of work to get to this point! If you guys check out the build thread on s14.net, you can just see the sheer amount of labor and fabrication in this project.

thanks for all the kind words. always nice to get some votes of confidence.
canned the drive by wire. i have not driven the car yet, not sure how the dual masters will feel when brakes are up to temp. i do have a bias, but might need to rethink master sizes. who knows. just need some seat time.
i ended up using a hi flow in tank (again) and put a newer oe external pump. i have the bosch 044 just sitting on the bench.
i wish i knew what it was like to drive it...... i am still waiting for the state to send the plates. aaaarrrrgggghhhh.WOW!!!
DO WANT!!! :hitler:
Nice work there, that car must be soooooooooooo much fun to drive!!! I wish my car could make power till 8000, stupid US s52!
BTW what rear end are you running? I know the e46 uses a 3.64, so a 3.73 would be about right, but a 3.46 would be even better IMO.
i currently have the e36m3 5speed (zf) coupled with the s3.23 from an mcoupe. after some thought, i think the 3.64 would be a better choice.
DTA s-100 from ABL Originals. Ive been working with alex for a while on this project.
not necessary, but it was the driving force. i love the power of the motor swapped car. love the handling of the s14'd m3 (51/49).
bingo. Alex at ABL is working on a plug and play system for the s54 conversion. this has been a bit of a "test pig."
Still have another 20 ft/lbs to get out of it, (and need to eliminate that nasty 3500-4000 torque dive) but hey.....not a bad start.
cheers, jason

Fwiw....
The factory cams are designed to be optimized for high rpm use. Therefore, it is not too surprising that we have excellent results in the higher rpm, and have exheeded handily the stock programming with the only real changes from US spec being the deletion of the cats in the headers, and the removal of the HFM tubing/stock intake.
We fully expect to exheed factory spec for the rest of the powerband as well, but it will take some more massaging on the dyno to get there... we had only a very, very short time invested in the actual tuning of the cams, but the system worked very well.
Look for stage two systems with CF intake to exheed these numbers as well. When one looks closely at the intake plenum of the stock S54, it is really amazing how much the first 2, perhaps even 3 cylinders are choked off in there, as well as #6.
Coupled with a 6 speed and a 4.10, 4.27 or 4.45 this would be incredibly potent, coupled with a 5 speed ZF and a 3.91 would be a killer combination for race cars....These would limit top speeds of course, but tire size would be an issue as well....
Stay tuned.... (no pun intended)Comment

The 3.23 will be a great choice with the ZF. I used to have a 3.25 + ZF combo on my s52 swap car, and it was a great overall gear. I opted for the 3.46 to get some more "balls" out of the gearing.
I will soon be switching to a 2.93 after driving another s52 swap with that gearing. I like having the much longer 1st and second gear, which allows for more time in the power-band of each gear.
Since your motor makes so much more power in each gear, and revs past 8k, I think you will have a very fun powerband with the 3.23! If anything, you should source a 3.46, which would be a little shorter.
Can't wait for some in-car footage of this beast in action! When I get the money, I will be swapping in an s54 into my e30. 8)Check out Undr8d Empire on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Undr8dEmpireLlc

Lies, the motor must have been set back so you could install the almighty MECHANICAL FAN!!!!1one
Nobody likes half-assed electrical fans now. ;)paint sucksComment

aaahhhh. you caught me. actually its for the leaf blower i am hooking up to the intake. since the electric one on ebay was worth 100 horse, i am guessing i can squeeze an extra 200 horse out of the craftsman gas model. ;)

I've found that one of the hard parts in tuning the M54 is knowing what to do with the cams, now that I have control of them. I suspect the S54 will be the same way. Do you have data on what previous tuners have done for VANOS advance/retard schemes?
I will!Comment
