have had it on the track twice now. had a few quirks to work out. a code brown moment or two...... like a stuck throttle in the top of 4th going into turn 1. all in all, very pleased.
still more to do, but im way too busy this summer. im just going to run it hard and put it away wet. i'll fix the rest this winter.
one thing that had me stumped for days was the blue smoke on decelleration. (see video) it ended up being the power steering. yes, the power steering fluid was boiling, misting out the cap and into the filter. hard to believe i know. i underdrove the pulley, put a p.s. cooler on..... still had boiling fluid and blue smoke. between instructing and my session, i threw on a shorter belt and bypassed the p.s. pump (manual steering).... viola, zero smoke. go figure.
video is the first day out..... John is giving chase with his s50's car. dont laugh at my early braking and coasting in the straights..... my confidence was a bit shaken with that whole stuck throttle business. cheers, jason
Excellent job on several fronts Jason.
1, reincarnating the M3
2, Updating the M3 chassis
3, The engine and conversion.
4, meeting the paradigms of the project.
Looks good Jason. I'm still on a lookout for a ps cooler for you. As soon as I find one, I'll grab it, and let you know.
Finally got mine on the road, but just like yours there's few things I need to iron out.

congrats on getting it on the road. What little details need to get ironed out? those little things can really add up.
thanks for being on the lookout. my p.steering cooler is ghetto-tastic. its a 5' 3/8" brake line bent into a loop mounted below the radiator. Just got a z3 rack installed, will try it again in a couple weeks.
Jason, you should change your sig picture. Highly deceiving. Great job on the swap btw. I plan on doing a s54 swap for the same person (s52/auto) if he finds a good enough deal. If not, his s52 auto + supercharger will be in order.
I'm curious, since you moved the motor back 4inches, stick for the tranny move back as well? I'm doing a similar swap and I like the move the motor back solution as well. Nicely done!

its not as easy as it looks. (see build thread.) but the results were very promising for a track car.
On a side note, just got an updated tune that was more comprehensive with the vanos movement. Mucho good. anxiously awaiting for the next track day. cheers, jason

I still need to get the front sway bar modified to fit around the headers, and also need to weld the stock oil cooler lines to mate them up with the euro lines at the top.
Otherwise, I'm pretty much set.
