S54 swap into an E30 racecar with MarkD ECU tuning

I have a very good idea what I want to charge in the end, but am not sure what the market will think of those prices. The way I see it, you can't only decide who to use based on price alone as I know very well that some of the people offering this service are just copying flashes they read from other ECU's, and I can't compete with them. Let's say that my price will be a great deal for what it is, and compared to what a well known place in the USA charges for just the S54 swap software without a tune. (they say on their website that they dropped the price to $1600 but that does not include a performance tune). I am still wanting to charge $1800 with a performance tune. The people that sent me DME's so far are getting a discount off that price for being the first to use my services.URL: www.dsylva-tech.caComment

I have also used TunerPro and Moates hardware for years, just not on the S54.
And the Moates emulator sure beats the one I bought about 12 years back from Racelogic in the UK, that one was over $4000 by the time I got it into CanadaURL: www.dsylva-tech.caComment

Yeah, I hear you. Electronics pricing has plummeted.
You may remember me, we had a long conversation on the phone, I'm in S.Florida. You gave me some direction on the hardware needed as we want to be able to do OBDII tuning in-house for our projects.Comment

Yes I remember you. In this case, the drop is not so much because electronics prices in general have dropped, it's because Racelogic was selling a product that very few other companies made at that time. The actual cost to produce that emulator could not have been more than 400 or $500 but they didn't sell many so had to recover the development costs over a small number of sales.URL: www.dsylva-tech.caComment

Right. Kind of like the Lisa desktop when I was in school. As a whole, electronics and parts have gone down in price because of other advancements such as smaller and easier to produce components.
Either way, we have a potential s54 swap coming in the shop and will be contacting you :)Comment

Will Alpha-N be an option with this tuning?
What about MAF swaps(for FI-applications)? Any idea of what kg-hour the stock s54 MAF pings at?
$1800 still seems a bit steep considering you can get a DTA S80 running for about the same cost w/ base maps.
Will advice for datalogging hardware/software be given along with how to intergrate that with the tunerpro interface, such as part throttle map tuning?
I am glad you are using tunerpro though, I have been debating the s54 swap for awhile but wanted to use tunerpro. I have been using tunerpro w/ the 413 for about a year and have had great results thus far.

Sorry I just saw this today! Yes I am doing it all in Canada, no need to ship to Europe. I can easily set up my chip shipper so he can flash the DME's in Columbus Ohio, so it won't even need to come across the border.URL: www.dsylva-tech.caComment

I can make alpha-N tunes but have not been promoting them as unless a car has exactly the same intake system as the one I develop the tune for, it will need some data logging and custom tuning. Right now I am only offering that for track cars in the Toronto area.URL: www.dsylva-tech.caComment
