The S54 has so much more power than the Euro. My Euro dyno at ~275. My S54 at 330-ish (not fully tuned). Granted the Euro had a stock ECU no tuning while the S54 has a stand alone.

Looking good sir. I'm liking my IE 6 piston kit so far. Tons of room for wheel clearance. It feels like a stock car putting around town. Have not had the chance to give them a workout yet.

That's not at ALL a fair comparison, lol. Stock S54s dyno around 275ish as well. Are you alpha-n?

                ughhhh Why didn't I go S54?!

Side question: didn't you use to be euro s50'd? I remember seeing vids of a euro s50 e30 m3 from new england. If so what happened?
Can you comment any on Azevedo's work? He's literally 5 min from my house and I'm considering checking his shop out.

                  Yes sir that was me.

The euro s50 was a great engine but there just wasn't any more options for more power.

Now the s54 has more power, everyone knows them here, parts are easier to get and its the last iteration of BMW's I6 engines.

Only negative i can think of is that the s50 looked better in there with the solid valve cover.

Alot less mileage on this one too. 55k compared to 90k o the euro

biggest advantage of S54 is they are more common for parts/mods and have finger followers for a better valvetrain other than that not much difference in the big picture. The heads flow about the same stock and both can be made to flow over 300CFM enough for 450-500bhp in an allout build

I'm confused - the title of this thread says he's running the 'stock ECU' but you say the S54 runs a standalone. Can you elaborate / someone set me straight?

                            thanks.

He has standalone on his S54. Of course you can run the stock computer, that's what I'd recommend.

The power from a stock ECU with a tune and a standalone is not significantly different. I bought a standalone when that was a cheaper option for the criteria I wanted out of my ECU choice.
