never mind ... 17mm for transmission & 10mm for rear diff (guess a little research does help :D). I just drained my diff and when I went to pump the fluid in, the pump had a leak in it so it squirted all over the place. so I have to wait till someone gives me a ride to get it replaced (NAPA). Any suggestions on taking the fill plug off of the tranny? The only 17mm hex I could find was a large L shaped beast and I am having a hell of a time trying to loosen it.
Sure, if you want to take the easy way out ;) However, a good 17mm hex socket is ~$20 versus ~$3 for a decent 6-point socket, if you already have the 17mm allen. Plus you can made the bit length exactly what you want it to be, though that's more of an issue with 14mm hex sockets for diff plugs.
You could also take a 17mm bolt with 2 nuts on it, put it in there backwards and out she comes. Even cheaper, and more redneck.
