    make an ix in to a 2 wheel drive

    i was just thinking, has anyone tryed to take the transfer case and the front drive of an ix and just have the lsd in the back? cause im thinking of getting an ix and making it in to a rwd. If you ever heard of this being done feel free to comment

    lol. that is like having a regular e30. there is a reason why ix is awd. thanks for the laugh.

      wouldnt it make more sense to just get a regular i or is thats already RWD instead of destroying an ix?

            It's been done before. By BMW. It's called a 325is.

                    honestly thing to do would be sell tranny, transfer case, front and rear driveshaft and front diff and just buy a rwd tranny and driveshaft.

                    Better yet buy a rwd e30.

                        I don't see why this idea can't be taken seriously. There's multiple reasons why someone might want to go rwd without buying a new car.

                          there are many more reasons not to

                          aside from the point most people bring up (ruining an ix), it's just not going to handle very well without AWD. The entire suspension has been setup for AWD. There is almost zero castor up front on an ix, and no options for camber/castor plates (which is also less than a RWD car). There was a guy who did RWD with an S50 swap in an ix, it handled so bad he sold the car to Ryan G. who converted it back to a stock ix.
