    Fitting iX arches

I'm restoring a touring and will be fitting iX arch flares with skirts and mtec2 front and rear bumpers.

Without drilling into my arches is there another way of making them fit? Do people bond them on?

I'm going with 16x9J wheels all round so might not have to much room left inside the arches, I'm probably going to be cutting the lip of to give a little more clearance.

This will be repaired but it shows the lip I will be cutting of rolled up

This is a photoshoped image of what I'm hopping my car will look like when I'm finished with it

Do you guys have sikaflex over there?

if she goes for that, astroglide up your pole, have her lay on her stomach and slip it in slowly and bury it to your balls and leave it there until she relaxes. once she is used to it slam that ass like a screen door.

Should do, I know I've specified their roofing products in the past.

Is there some sort of rubber trim/gasket that you can get to put on the edge of the arches? I know this is available for the arches that go on the classic mini's.

There are a few rubber edgings available but it would look a bit much IMO and hard to perfect.

Do you have a pic of the inside of an ix flare? we never got them here in AU so i havent played with them. If there is a thick enough edge (10+mm) you could sikaflex them on, then once cured run a small bead of sika in the crack.

You can then clean excess off with a rag and some prepsol (not sure of US / UK equivalent) and once you are happy with the thickness, use a rubber glove and some water, wipe over the bead to give a flat neat looking seal between the two parts.

Post a pic of the inside of the flare if you can

Busy few days and only getting a pic up now:

Looking at it and not being to keen on drilling holes in my arches for the green grommets, I think a bead of glue/sealant where you see the tape along with a bead where the grommets are and then stick it on with clamps to hold it in place. Not sure how long it will hold but worth a go anyway.

While googling I also found a thread I started in Dec and forgot about because of not having topic reply notifications turned on...

We never got the iX in Ireland either, which I don't mind cause mine will look a little more unique :) I know of two though owned by the same guy!

I'm pretty sure Nando just holds his flares on with double stick tape.

The foamy kind of double sided tape? There's some of that left on it, if it does the job I'm happy :)

i believe he also trimmed the inside of his arches so he could fit more tire. I'll be doing the same to fit style 5s on my IX touring.

which part of this pic is photoshopped...? all the reflections are believable. if that's shopped, props to you. cause that's very good.

if you pshopped arches on, you must have found a maritusblau ix in the exact same angle and lighting conditions....

that just doesnt look like pshop to me.

I would say the wheels, the blue reflection of the sky in the wheels doesn't match the pic of car taken on overcast day.

yep. This is the best pic I've got:

                        it's enough to fit 235's :)

I think that part of my arches might all ready be trimmer or has gone missing :P

Got a price of BMW for the double sided tape used for sticking them on, have to check will I have enough with one 3m roll (about 10ft) before ordering.

                          The original image was this:

                          What I changed was
Wheels - can be seen from the image cause it was badly done and wrong colour :)
Touring roof - also not great cause the image I took of my car was a different angle, it's missing a bit at the rear
Shadowline trim was take from my car and added over the chrom

I did some messing after with yellow lights, colour coded rubbing strips and rubbing strips delete

Had a hard time deciding what to do, going to keep the strips as they are

Thanks. I tried to fix it a little in the later 3 photoshops but i couldn't quite get it. It served it's purpose anyway and was to convince me I was attempting the right thing with my touring.
