i ordered drop hats, haven't installed those yet.

these springs are the shit! my buddy has GC's, yeah his sits lower, but mine FEELS better, both our opinions. few people have said that the vogtlands are the best if you daily your car, mild autoX....which i do, couldn't be happier.
this is an ix thread - and drop hats don't work on ix's. neither would vogtlands..

I have the h&r/bilstein set up right now and there is a big difference. Its a lot lower than with stock springs but its not too low that it'll put a ton of pressure and wear out the axels

        Old thread I know...

My 2c. I prefer the higher stance of the stock springs aesthetically and functionally on the IX. It makes the car look capable and sporty to me and you'll ultimately have more clearance in the snow/mud if you actually use it for that. I was thinking for a minute of getting the HR Sport springs but decided against. If I want a low e30, then I'd do it and I'd get an s52 swapped one.

I'm not sure what springs I have in my car. I have Koni's up front and Bilstein in the back. I can't find any markings but the springs feel very stiff. The car came from Germany so there may be different aftermarket options there. The distance from the center of my front hub to the fender is 14.5". Is that stock height?

That sounds stock, im less than 12" from hub center to the fender iirc.

I would love to be in that range, but will H&R ix sport get me there?

See, I'm in a dilemma right now as to whether I should switch out my springs (not sure of where they came from, but they feel fairly stiff) and put in H&R, and quite possibly have very little difference or spend a little extra and go for the GC kit. Sorry to jack the thread a little.

You need modified struts and shorter inserts for gc to be worth it. Otherwise there's not enough travel.

Im rocking bilstein/h&r set up and my front end gap is bigger then the rear. Your KONI sports set up with the H&R sports got you the smaller gap up front?? I like the way your car sits.

Does anyone know if bilstein sport shocks fit in the rear? I'm running HD's with H&R right now.

yes all E30 rear shocks are the same

but there's really no point in switching unless your HDs are worn out
