with 195 snow tires it's a lot easier than 205 summer tires.

it sucks regardless. gl parallel parking.

please allow me to expand on this a little: it sucks sweaty hairy swamp ass.

we drove my son's car back from charleston with a bad ps hose. trying to parallel park was beyond terrible. any sort of front back maneuvering was almost unmanagable. just fix your system and be happy. certainly would not be worth the weight savings unless your arms were transplanted from a gorilla.

The iX is undrivable without PS. It's worse on all season tires than a RWD E30 on r-tires.

Had to cut the belt one time way back when and it was really bad around town.

It IS drivable. I do it every day. Gladly. And on 8" wide all the way around.

Delete power steering properly and it should work well. Best of luck.

8" wide wheels, or 8" wide tires?

my old tires are 10" wide. trust me, it sucks.

                  EXACTLY!

Running a PS car without properly deleting the power steering is much like removing the vac line from the brake booster and than saying that manual brakes suck.

Your fighting the pump, and the fluid. If you want an idea of how it will feel, remove the belt from the pump and remove the lines, leave everything open for now (you will loose fluid so make sure its not all over your driveway) and see how you like it..if you do buy the kit that a fellow r3v'er sells which loops the 2 holes using an aluminum plate..this allows air and fluid in the rack to be moved while turning the wheels, while also keeping debris out.

It also depends on your living situation, me being in NYC without a ps steering will probably get old fast...but if i lived in a more open area where its highway driving and minimal parallel parking..id probably enjoy it.

we're talking about the ix here. it's a totally different animal - it doesn't have the lightweight/non-existant steering feel with PS that the RWD E30s have.

you're also fighting the torque being transmitted through the front wheels, and the wider track.

It definitely depends on you and the drivability you desire.
Mine is currently inop but I drive in the mountains mostly.
Save up - buy the kit and fix it. Keep driving. Done.

Hmm. I had no trouble with no PS and I am a skinny little kid.

I have no power steering in my iX. It sucks and I'm a big beefy adult.

It's doable for a bit, but you'll want it back.

Pull the powersteering belt off and give it a shot. It seriously isn't that bad at all. I expected it to be much harder to turn the wheel but it wasn't. I don't know what others are talking about.

I think you actually get more feel for the road. Parallel parking on the other hand is a bit of a different story.
