that's pretty worn. it's not completely stripped but it won't last long like that. I wouldn't want to leave it as is, as it can damage the splines in the transfercase and that's way more expensive to fix.
I'd like to know if these are still available too. I want 2.

Do you still have them for sale? I couldn't find them on ebay...Also does anyone know the typical price for a shop to weld this up?
Are mine typical older ones, or are they toast?Leave a comment:

Well I'm starting doing two jobs in next week... First one is intership for my school, from 08.00-16.00, monday to friday and second one is just for gaining money for my work, from 16.00-20.00, monday to friday plus 10+10 hours in weekends.. so I have no time for it now :/ I think I'll get one e34 shaft and gear for creating uppgrade model for it.. :) be patientLeave a comment:

yes I can. If you send me your shaft and the gear it fit so I can find the correct size for it. I will weld new head onto it.Leave a comment:

no prob buddy ;) Awesome work on fitting it!Finally got around to working on Juuso's spline upgrade.
Sand blasted the stripped drive shaft I got from audiquattrot, thanks again! Comparing the new head with the old shaft the weld should be in the same spot as the original. That being said make sure you cut the head off after the weld otherwise you will be left with a lip on the inside from the original weld and you'll be stuck filling it off. I used a press to get it on all the way.
and damn now looking at the comparisons you posted, i like the way these shaft inserts are made! good job jute, I have a spare stripped shaft myself, and might do this down the road to have as a spare.Leave a comment:

That's cheap, when you consider what metal it is used and you think this, where it will be used and what it is meant to be, there may be value for moneyLeave a comment:
