initially this is what i was looking for since i had an issue w/ my last iX leaking gas from the tank.....but that car had a strong odor of gas coming from inside and outside the car (esp when i filled up). My current one doesn't show any signs of leaking coming from the tank but I'll def keep it in mind.

      You're going from a 3.91 to a 4.10.. its not much of a difference.

            Do you have a fairing?

Not that wind noise is exactly a quantitative measure of how much drag is being created, but with the sunroof rolled back I noticed a significant increase in noise without my fairing on.

i don't use a fairing. I had one on my old Audi and saw increased drag + noise with it on....so i chose not to use one w/ the E30.

NO it doesn't. Roof rack won't make you go down to fucking 12mpg. Something is very wrong here, the car is consuming twice as much fuel as it should be. A roof rack is worth what... maybe 2mpg. On the highway. With dead hookers stacked on it. Not a whole lot of frontal area added.

Have you done a stomp test to see what codes are stored?
If the CEL flashed a code should be stored.

a ha! now we're getting somewhere. I had no idea about the 'stomp test'. Just did it now, and it looks like this is the code:

                      1221
EGO Sensor #1 - 1221 - Fault related to Oxygen ( O2 ) sensor is present if the sensor is unplugged, bad / not-operational, or sensor values are out of range. Test the O2 sensor for proper operation, as well as check harness connections by the sensor and by the battery tray in the engine compartment.

now its making sense. Good thing is I ordered a new O2 sensor last night.....hoping this is all it is! Thank you for this!

The cat might be partially plugged.

put the O2 sensor in last night. Had to pipe wrench the thing off..... I'll report back to see if it'll make a diff, but just this mornings' commute didn't seem to help (35miles, and the gas needle moved significantly). I'll update once I go thru a full tank. Also added one bottle of Techron last week to my tank. I have been using my A/C though...

If this doesn't do it, I might look into new injectors and rebuilt AFM......or maybe clogged cat?
