you can use it, but going to have to replace in the future for sure..might as well replace both the strut housings while you're at it..just PB blast it then try to take it off if no luck, PB blast some more and then heat it up some with a torch slightly, the heat should loosen it..it make take a few runs with the torch but you'll get it off though..I also took a wire brush in between the gland nut and top of the housing and scrub it then blasted with PB to try to get it in the threads

    it's probably not much better.

I think those are even worse than my parts car, unfortunately. hopefully I'm wrong though. :(

Torch vise pipe wrench hammer. Repeat 3x in my case. They did come out but it took a lot of effort to break them loose. Heat is critical.

$500 for a pair of used housings is a total ripoff

check ebay - I've seen them go for $150 or so.

keep the old ones in case you want to do coilovers some day far out in the future. :p

You could have a new threaded section welded in. Ix tubes are thicker, i think similar to the E36.

My spare housings were just like that. I could NOT get the nuts off - I was doing coilovers anyway, so i just cut them off.
That's what I was afraid of... I'll get a pic of my other one and send it to you. It's in better shape, but not great.
