    Subframe Question.

I can't find the original post on this so sorry for the repeat.

I am finally ready to replace my (very rusted) rear subframe.

The question is what is the difference between the normal E30 rear subframe and the iX?

Can I get away with using a normal E30 subframe?

**If anyone has a no rust rear subframe for sale, I'm interested.

    different bushings

the IX subframe bushings are different so you would have to change them in the new subframe if its and i/e, other wise its all the same.

the reason the subframe part # is different on sites like RealOem is the the subframe comes with bushings installed so had to have a different #

i just converted an i subframe to an IX for my car to fix a toe issue ,just pressed in new IX subframe bushings

Yeah that's all. Just use ix bushings with the ix Subframe washers/Subframe bolts and everything will line up like normal.

yes thats all , the subframe bushings are taller to correct suspension geometry due to the IX sitting higher ...(lowers subframe in relation to body) , and yes be sure to use IX washers if staying stock height, if lowering car you can use standard i bushings/subframe to keep geometry correct due to sitting lower (close to same height as stock i)

I need a new subframe and trailing arms for my 'iX' because
I smashed a curb sideways and bent an arm and the arm mounts on my subframe. Is this confirmed accurate? Can i just buy an 'i' subframe and use the 'iX' bushings?

you will need to swap the rear hubs/e-brakes on those RWD trailing arms. may as well do new bearings and brake shoes.

Oh yeah, the iX hubs have different offset than the RWD rear hubs.
