well i got a few things and a couple on the way. I got the Bentley manual and omg that thing is the single greatest thing i have purchased.I also got a steering coupler and i have the head bolts coming and the main bolts coming along with some micrometers. Then ill measure the crank and the rods then order the bearings then the engine will be back togetherand mated to the transmission.
The rear mud flaps are standard E30. The fronts are the difficult ones to obtain. NLA from the factory. They show up occasionally on eBay for crazy prices. Keep an eye out on the forums and your local CL. Sometimes when people part out their iX's a pair will show up.
I started reconstructing the car i attached the subframe and had to cut off a part of the nut on the power steering because it was bent on the top of the threads. So now all i need to do is get one new outer ball joint because the threads on that are just gone literally gone. So now im awaiting the arrival of the e30 bible then i know what the crank shaft measurments so i can get the correct bearings and then the engine will be built then dropped in the car.
Also come to find out there are 2 subframe bolts missing. So ill get a couple from the yard along with a few nuts that are missing off my iX. Then i can mount some crappy steelies that i got for free so the car is at least on its own wheels.
Thanks I haven't updated in a bit because I pulled off the rear bumper and found out the person who owned the car prior to the previous owner used some sort of glue and a screw to hold on the rear bumper on the sides. So I got to figure out how to remove it without further damaging the cars paint and body. I have a spare red bumper cover I'm going to take to a body shop for them to repair and paint it.
I am also considering pulling off my rear subframe and cleaning it and painting it.
And i think i need to clean that rear view mirror better that looks horrid.
I also rebuilt the whole top end so its all put back together now i just need the bearings and the gaskets and arp bolts and i have a running motor again.
So I have been cleaning the car more and i installed a rear view mirror with lights. Unfortunatly the light harness was not there so i need to figure out how to get a wire ran to the rear view mirror. But here is what i have been up to.
the rear view mirror
Passenger side engine bay i used an acid that will not harm my paint to clean it further and as you can see i need to do some serious touch up work and im still not done. I may throw down some dynamat where the paint has pealed. I think it may have pealed because of the exhaust.
so i got a few things and i am now able to post the pics
Rear driveshaft
The wheel
.......god damn i need to clean that wheel storage bay.
And the rear bumper is trashed i need a new one. Also if you look above the bumper idk who did the work but it looks atrocious. So I need to figure out how to remove that and do it right.
And idk if my ix was stock with plastic bumpers or this was just damaged. If you can give me some insight as to weather the 89 ix got the plastic bumpers or was standard metal.
So today the previous owner found a spare basket weave and rear driveshaft for the car along with the engine main caps. So I'm now that much closer to getting the car on the road so soon the block and head will be off to the machine shop for clearance checks Clea in and decking.
