325iX REAR Axles... Same as other e30s?

Well, the clicking came back... Happens only when car is in gear, more noticeable in the lower RPM. Gets faster and less noticeable with speed. Seems to be coming from rear drivers side... I'm thinking diff, t-case, driveshaft or guibo. I can't tell and won't be able to get to a lift again until tomorrow. Stumped. I don't think it's the CV.

Heres a pic of a 325ix axle and a 325i, its got the same flange and length but the CVs is a little bigger on the 325i.
So i cant see a problem with replacing a ix axle with a i axle :)

The OD of the joints is larger, but the bolt circle is the same, right?

The ix axle is probably a few lbs lighter though..

Well, I figured out the problem. Ended up being the parking brake. The loud pops were from the e-brake cable binding because it wasn't fully releasing.. I recently did the brakes, so it made sense to check.. I feel pretty stupid now, but I couldn't find the problem right away and jumped to conclusions. Thanks for all the info.. When it's time for rear axles, it's good to know that the regular 325 axles could be another option.
