I know the front diff is the weak link in the 325ix drivetrain, I was curious if the 525ix diff will bolt to the 325ix pan? And if the axles and front driveline will work also? Or if I will need to have a custom 525 inner and a 325 outer axle made? Thanks for any input guys!

it will not come close to directly fitting. also the 5er ratio is 3.38. ix's are 3.90, 4.10, and in rare cases 3.64. 525ix axles are all but impossible to find. there is a pretty long thread here about doing 24v swaps in ix's. you might give it a read as there is info there about using 5er parts.sigpic

Is there some problem with your front differential? Unless you have to put major HP through it, I am not sure I would agree with the blanket statement in your question.
If someone has stayed on top of their fluid changes, no reason the front should fail any more than any other part of the drivetrain... and if it does, just replacing it would be the easiest.

That dude from Finland with a 600+hp was breaking diffs on the reg, he said he somehow added 2 more spider gears to the front diff 4 all together. he said it has held and the spider gears haven't broke yet but the ring and pinion has recently broke. I wont have 600hp but I would rather have safe of mind when launching, autocross, drag. Then worrying about breaking my diff all the time.

I don't get it. The iX is superior to so many vehicles in its class. Yes, I am adding power to my 88iX. AWD DSMs are four bangers and can take much more abuse than the iX. But the iX can take turns like a train as long as denzel isn't driving. I nerver had a RWD e30 and I do want one. I don't want to blast part some clown and then say "oh yeah, its a rare AWD BMW"
