it might have to do with the ix shifter having such a short leverage ratio below the fulcrum. I mean when you put it into 5th gear with the stock lever the travel is like 8" from 2nd lol.
in retrospect I think I could have done it without altering the length, and just making sure it cleared everything else (including the aluminum carrier). however it worked out though I have the Z3 lever in backwards and it's perfectly centered.. go figure.
