    Front SS brake lines

What's the word on these? I did some searching and see UUC has a kit, would rather not run their lines though.

I saw a post on here saying E36 lines were a possibility but no responses followed up to verify.

Has anyone had success with off the shelf lines? Trying to stay as simple as possible.

IE sells a set. DOT approved as well.

Edit: Shit, just realized I'm browsing the iX section, my bad. IE's lines will not fit iXs.

I wonder why. I got some random SS brake lines years ago with the Alpina BBK I bought off craigslist. Had no name or markings on them, probably like 10 years old but still NIB like the brake kit. I installed them without second thought and haven't had an issue.

It's not like the brake rotor is in a drastically different location. It's only the rear rotors that are IX specific.

I did the same thing, I think they are a little bit short.

^ This. At least make sure they aren't tight at full droop with the wheels turned if you're going to run shorter ones.

and the rear lines worked out? or did you ask them for just the fronts?

edit: just emailed IE; going to try and get a hybrid kit. e36 front. e30 rears. i've always had good luck with IE SS lines.

the E36 front lines do fit. That's what I'm running.

way back in the day when IE sold uncoated lines, the regular E30 set fit the ix just fine. Then I got the UUC set (cause I wanted coated lines for some reason) and they were like 3" shorter or something. I had already taken it all apart so I used them anyway for a while, but I never liked how tight they got, so I swapped them eventually for the E36 fronts.

I wished I had never got rid of the IE lines I had - they were just fine, no wear at all after many years of daily driving. I still have the rear lines installed.

That's interesting. I wonder if that's what I have. Mine are uncoated.

Thought I should put my record in here:

I purchased ECS SS brake lines for e30 IS, front and all rear, fit like a glove. IMO the fronts are not too tight when turned on lock. Not near the car now but I should grab a photo at some point for evidence.. :pimp:

I hope they work for me. Should be installing this weekend. If they don't, I will find you, and make you pay me $100. Haha

So I installed the FCP e36 lines last weekend and there great so far. I wish the front lines weren't so long but it works, on the front lines to the caliper the line but was inbetween a 14mm & 15mm but I just used a adjustable wrench.
