Here is the iX plate that Eric test fitted on my car. These have been resized.

The front crossmember is above the pad of the jack. The plate sits very close to the crossmember, and flexes to touch it when you place the jack there.

I removed the plastic splash shield from the front because I couldn't figure out any other way to get at the back side of those 7 bolts in the front to tighten them.

And yes, I know my front diff is leaky....

I removed my plastic splash shield. The two rear bolts go through the same holes that it used in the back. Just take a look at yours, and you'll see.

Bumping this because I'm interested in a skid plate that protects the oil pan for my rallyx ix.

Anyone build anything custom/good? I am thinking something along the lines of a hik fabrication hoop with a plate that extends from the front valence to beyond the oil pan. Attaching to the front subframe with spacers is a possibility, since it'd be a rather long plate. I'm thinking metal stand offs or a hockey puck.

My real issue is where to attach the plate in the rear? Thoughts?

Control arm is your only good option, I know someone that made one that mounted to the control arms, I'll ask if he has pictures.

He said it was a pain to bend it too the shape of the frame. He drilled two holes and bolted it to the cabs. He's making a new one so this one was scraped. You get the idea though

Yeah I was afraid of that. I as discussing the CAB as a mounting point with a friend and disappointed with how long that will make the plate. More flex with a long plate.

I bought a sheet of 2'x4'x1/4" 5052 aluminum. I'll update the thread with progress as it goes.

actually, i made one out of an old aluminium sign i had at work, its pretty thick, i drilled and tapped the bosses in the bottom of the subframe. it doesnt cover the whole oil pan but i would imagine as long as it protects the front edge of the pan it would take care of most things, ill see if i can find a picture of it and post it
