e30 hood seals

I am still using the longer 1 piece so havent testes the 3 pc system. The under the windshield piece is longer and it goes past the start of the fenders. I will figure out which version I will use after I paint the car.

yes where I'm at right now. old used one piece, new 3 piece or 2 new short seals joined in the middle. I got two new seals. Looks like they aren't metal reinforced like there trunk seal. Thinking about cutting them clean at one side and gluing them together.

where do those two go? I thought they cover that exposed inner lip by the fender where one piece seal goes... as an extension to the short seal at the firewall section? Or you just using one piece without those two you got?

I ended up buying the 2 smaller ones. Haven't gotten the middle one yet. I am still using the larger one piece since it is still in good condition.

did you end up doing that 3 piece seal? How did it work out for you? Going through the same situation.. 3020mm is no more. Thinking about doing two 1520mm but there will be a joint in the middle by the firewall, not sure if it's good idea ..

I need help from the guys doing full restorations or have installed newer hood seals. I want to buy it new in prep to painting the car. Online there seems to be talk about the original 1 piece being changed out for 3 pieces. I have a 91 with the larger 1-piece. ETK sees to have the following and all seems available from BMW/aftermarket.

Fender diagram has: 51711933209 requiring 1 per side. This looks to be a shorter seal. When I installed on the car to see if it seals, added phone camera on the inside and no light shining through from the outside along the fender/hood.
Hood diagram has 51711933992 (1520mm) and 51711919961 (3020mm). Looking online, it looks like the older one I have installed. The longer ones looks to be on backorder from a few sites. I would need to order the shorter as I have the new fender parts.

Is the norm to get the shorter one for the windshield area and the 2 fenders ones? Is there a issue using the 3 piece with water getting in where the meet up on either side?

I can post pics for those in the same predicament.

What pics you looking for. I have the original 1 piece on the ca, and only the 2 side pieces still in their packaging.
