it looks good, but the fact is that blue light is the worst color you can have for nightime driving, the wavelength is shorter than red which makes it much more intense, basically making it harder too see outside of the car. this is why airplanes use red (and sometimes green) lights ONLY.

Nando, Pilots don't honestly get alot of light pollution so the red works wonders for them. Most pilots commercial carriers now fly with the lights up in the cockpit during night flights, it helps them stay awake and function on a normal circadian rythium.

I want a clear tach about 20" in diameter that I can put on my windsheild!

fine, but my point still stands; you definitely get light pollution driving a car at night, and blue ricer gauges are only going to make it worse.

However that's on cruise altitude only though. I have yet to see a pilot land a plane with lights on. My father would beat the shit out of me every time I turned on the light to look at a map on the approach.

Thanks for reminding me my lifelong 10/10 vision is leaving. I am becoming far sighted and need to get glasses to see things that are very close.

I'm not going to go so far as to say it's "rice", but I'm not a fan of the blue, because it's the worst color light to have in your eyes at night. That's why BMW uses amber.

I'm not trying to bash you. I think you did a good job, just not my preference of gauges.
thats what i think too...except for the looks pretty good part cause i think the blue just ruins it.

You shouldn't need the tach if you've driven the car enough.

But then again, you might be getting deaf too ;)

I really like the layout and you did good work on it, I just wouldn't have used blue gauges myself. Reminds me of a Jetta's interior.

What are you going to do for a speedometer?

Thanks for all the comments, this thread is going somewhere good this time. I understand that red lighting is probly the best for gauges, but it doesn't seem to have any affect on me. Maybe when i'm 40 this will become a problem, but seeing as i'm only 19 i'm not going to worry about it too much.

Why no oil pressure or oil temp? Those are two guages I would add to a custom cluster for sure.

Who unbanned this idiot? Why ban anyone just to unban them later. R3V's new management has a horrible track record keeping people banned thus far.

What self respecting ricer has useful guages?

It's funny Matt said keep this thread clean when his management was one of the morons giving him such a hard time.

Jordan, you're a ricer, leave the kid alone. Blue is a shitty color, and it looks harder to see IMO, but fuck it. He wanted to do it for his SM car (i assume). And he passes my test (actually having auto-xed before and not a n00b in a custom turbo car for no reason).

                                It wasn't me!

You know, for the most part, I like this guy's car. I'm not a fan of the gauge cluster, but it's a novel idea. I just hate the riced-out color of them.
