    Oh, and they'd be genuine.

I would rather have spent the money on a set of sport seats, and since you're going to reupholster these anyway, I would've reupholstered the sport seats in some BMW alcantara.

But, each to his own, as they say.
Thanks for that frank appraisal of the situation.

I'm not keeping these forever. They're going on ebay this spring/summer. With the custom brackets I made for them, I should be able to get much more than what I paid for them, and will be able to to get the seats I've wanted all along. A friend offered to buy my sport seats for a price I couldn't turn down, and I needed some seats quick. These will do fine for now.

Not to mention sport seats are uncomfortable and heavy as fuck. Why do poeple rag on "Knock-off" products so much? Just because they are replicas of another brand doesn't mean they are complete garbage.

I've sat in Josh's seats. I helped him build the brackets. I can honestly say that these seats frame would never brake or warp like the oh-so-loved sport seat brackets do and they are WAY lighter. What kind of sport seats weigh 50lbs each?

Andrew is right. These seats may be knock-off's, but the only cheap thing on them is the fabric. The frames are solid, and the sliders and other parts are heavy duty. They're well built, and I don't forsee any problems with the bolsters. I also never found the sport seats very comfortable. I almost always got lower back/leg pain when driving around in them for extended periods of time. Not to mention he's right on another point, the E30 sport seats have got to be some of the heaviest seats I've ever been witness to. I must have dropped 30-40 pounds from the weight of the car by swapping to these.

Vaders are whats heavy, 70+. Sport seats are only 45lbs, your seats are at least 30lbs with the brackets Josh. Even my fixed back Corbeaus with almost no padding were close 22-24lbs with the brackets.

My "brackets" are 2 pieces of flat-bar welded to the existing sliders. I would estimate these seats weigh 30 lbs MAX. Even at that rate, I still shed 30 pounds.

30 lbs, low in the center of the car = no peformance advantage..

I could take a dump and make about as much difference. ;)

enjoy your seats though (I find sport seats to be very comfy, but I have a very typical 'tall skinny' german build)

True that. It's cool to shave weight and all, I'm all for it, but the arguement of these seats are better because they drop 30lbs is weak, no pun intended.

I never said they were better for that reason. They're better to me because they look better, and feel better than sport seats.

I'd say these seats weigh less than 30lbs, easily. Hell, to ship both of them only cost $64. I think I spent ~$100 shipping my SRD to Heeter. They obviously aren't the best choice of seat if you're a track rat, but they will still hold you in place for auto-x' and around the street.

I think they look good. Personally, if I look for new seats, I think I'll look for a set of cloth sport seats. I'm not sure how common they are though...

It only cost $50 to ship my Corbeaus WITH the brackets, and they traveled a longer distance. Weight doesn't matter on Oversized I and Oversized II packages.

Not very - I have them - grey cloth and they are nice and grippy.

It's hard to find them that aren't ripped or torn at all though.

True. My driver side one is perfect. My PS has a wear spot in the fabric on the seat bottom. Its not too bad, though.
