Too bad nobody wanted to buy the OEM mats from me when they were still available. Hopefully they decide to come out with them again. when I worked at a dealer, there were some instances of BMW retracting the NLA on certain accessories.

Thanks for the info guys! Just picked up my '84 coupe without any mats. Now I know what to get.

      Rock on!

If all goes well I'll have an old set of OEM E30 mats next week.

Then it's just sourcing carpet, backing, and the binding. I don't have embroidery equipment so they would be straight carpet mats.

I'm going to do black first as that's what I'd like in my car.

They do! The person who's sending me their old mats replace them with coco mats.

I have a set of custom made floor mats
              They looks amazing
They have a rubber backing so they don't slip
They are black, with the M3 logo, and red piping around the border

BavAuto Coco mats NOT the real thing

"Coco" floor mats arrived today, and I am not thrilled with the quality or fit. I'm probably going to return them unless they grow on me in the next 24 hours. I thought I was buying real Coco mats, but after I ordered them, I found out that there are lots fakes out there. The ones from Bav Auto are not the real deal. Anyway, look at the pics & decide for yourself. Would you keep these if you paid $145 (+ shipping) for a set of 4?

The color is great and they look OK from 4 feet away...

But the heel reinforcement is useless, because it's way too far from the gas pedal. It's also made of soft plastic instead of rubber, so it reeks of cheap:

The binding around the edges shows very poor quality:

The fit is only so-so. There is a small hump at the front left of the seat rail, which should have been cut-out, so the entire rear edge of the mat doesn't lift up:

                      These mats are not recommended.

Seeing as I got a set of mats from this thread I figured I'd post up the results of my project. I made this today. I'll have a whole set made up sometime next week. They take a decent amount of time.

This is Bentley carpet with cloth binding and nibbed backing. My neighbor asked where I purchased it while I was outside snapping pics.

Aleman, I would not have expected that type of shoddy floor mat from Bav Auto. I would send it back. That cheap sisal is going to leave all kinds of 'hairs' in your interior once it starts breaking down. And those edges look cheap as hell. Good from 10', but that's about it.
