I spruced up my instrument cluster..

I wasn't certain I wanted to bother, but I've done basically nothing to my interior and that's where the I spend most of my time. so I decided on the metal trim rings, and once I had it apart I thought I'd give the red needles a shot. I also polished the cover with 3m polishing paste and a microfiber towel. I think it turned out very well:

my camera sucks, it actually looks a bit better in person. now I gotta put this damn thing back in the car.. stupid airbag steering columns are a PITA. :p

Looks very nice. I still have some brushed [not polished] rings I bought for my old car that I never installed. I guess I will save them for the 89. The finish on the rings I have will match my Autometer gauges perfectly.

I did the same thing a while ago, i just added an ///m in the center like a chump. I also painted the red parts on the guages to match the needles, came out perfect.

no, I used plain old testors red model paint and a fine brush. I used a bit of masking tape as well so I didn't get red paint where it doesn't belong. :p

I would have liked brushed aluminum to match my shift lever and ebrake handle, but I thought all the brushed ones looked too square. I wanted something more like the newer ///M cars have.

There is an ebay vendor, at least there was for me and again a few months later when a friend of mine got some.
