I have both a UUC kit and sheer in my 24v and my buddy has the z3 knob on his 318is... the UUC is far more "notchy" and feels more like it's gated, much less movement overall.

HOWEVER, Z3 lever feels much more natural and is much better for day to day.
Back to back, I'd take the UUC for a track car and Z3 if it's double-duty or a daily driver.

+1 You paint a hilarious picture for me with that line. It may have to go in my sig. :)

I was wondering how hard you gotta 'slam' a gear shift, especially in an e30, to get even a loose one to come off, much less get it in the back seat. LOL.

To me, slamming anything around just seems unneccesary and abusive. Wives, children, pets, shifters, etc.

My mech snuck one of those factory looking weighted knobs on my car when it was in for a rack swap. I love at thing. Before that, I had the doorknob looking thing and it was loose. I could literally spin it.

        Happy Holidays Guys,
        Matt

I wouldn't say it's the best but I run an old Momo Phantom knob. This thing came in my Passat I bought 9 years ago and have had it since. It had that nasty faux carbon fiber on it so I went to sand it off to paint it black to put in my E30 and found it's actually real wood under it. So I wet sanded and cleared and left it as is.

+1 for this one. If you actually tighten the allen screws, it doesn't come off. If you half ass it, it will.

I cut my stock knob in half to make it more sleek. I felt like I was driving a semi before i did this. then as you can believe it would fly off constantly. like on every shift. some gorilla glue solved that :D
gorilla glue and duct tape solves all

I'm no schumacher, but i've always found that people that need to slam it into gear generally suck at driving and tend to break things.

Doesn't look like wood in that pic. Maybe it's the steering wheel's "woodness" that makes the knob look vinyl/rubber/plastic.

Also, on first look, I thought you were taking a picture of your car in traffic with no one in the front seat.

What kind of go karts have you been driving!? :)

I always thought the OMP style wheels looked like go kart wheels.

A lot of people like these, but man, I just think they are too modern or just out of place. I had a ZHP and liked the knob, so I guess function > form in this case... yes? Or do you like the look of it in there as well?
