    Pretty cool design. They are hidden in the dash. You push in and they pop out.

    I've contemplated this as well.

      No idea why I am just now finding this thread. Anyway I talked to this guy years ago about his cupholders and I still have his e-mail, not sure if it is current. But if someone wanted to E-mail him feel free to PM me and I will give you his address.

      If I remember correctly the actual cupholder wasn't a bass port tube but a cupholder insert for a poker or gaming table of some sort.

        well geeze, the ultimate cupholder is nothing but a water bottle holder with a lip. I think I might work something out from a bike bottle cage I have laying around here.
        Thanks for the tip. Coffee in the Am in my E30 = win

                    I have a spare console i was going to do this with as a temporary solution. Does it interfere with the seats at all?

                      Cut-out = 2 7/8"
                      Inside dia. = 2 3/4"
                      Depth = 2 5/8"

                      This does not interfere with seats or shifter. This is the first prototype. It works perfectly. I plan to make a new one and make it look neater. This is the best solution I could come up with. Sorry, will not work with heated seats unless you relocate seat switches. Oh well, you can't have everything.

                        Small world...

                        Last night I meet up with Roger who was selling some parts, he shows me the various e30s he and his son have been working on.

                        And what do I see in one of them! Bam:p

                        And no he would not sell it.

                          Don't need him to sell it, just to let you borrow it and make a copy. Or get the dimensions and make a CAD drawing.

                              The shifter would hit whatever you plug in to the outlet on the first model.. I vote for an outlet on the passenger side corner, or extend the wires more and put it someplace else. The core idea is great though.. makes me want to try it out. I've got some fiberglass kits lying around. Perhaps I'll give it a whril.
