they dont make spacers for stock wheels! the steering wheel you see in the pic has 6 allen heads that hold ot to the spacer, cant do that with a stock one! the problem you are probably experiencing is that you have the WRONG STEERING WHEEL!!! It is probably a E34 wheel, they are larger, but look the same.
I don't fit quite right with my mtech ii wheel.

Under the center roundel there should be a stamp that says E34 or E30.Comment

Here's some pictures..
first: the backplate

Closeup of the hub itself:

Me sitting straight legged, notice the lack of space between my right knee, and the steering wheel

Me sitting with my knee resting against the center console, notice how i can now fit my fist through the gap for a turn:

On the M-tech 1 one, it's under the roundel. But I'm not even sure if yours can pop off the roundel. The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment

That wheel looks to skinny compared to my Mtech 2.
Dont have my digi cam with me but the spokes look skinnier since they are longer.
Im 6'3" and my legs dont bump like you state, and I have regular vinyl seats right now, not sports.Comment

I just installed an mtech2 wheel in my car (previously airbagged) and I actually ran into a different problem, but I think you can use my fix. When I put the mtech 2 on it was shorter than my stock wheel, and it didint fit quite right it slid back and forth. So, I bought some locking washers, and used them as spacers between the wheel and the nut.
Im thinking if you just put the washers on before putting the wheel on, then put the wheel over, it will push it out (as far as u need depending on how many washers u use). Then tighten the nut over it, and voila. Not sure how far you'll need it out because the bolt only extends so much, but at least its worth a try before anything else more drastic.1990 325ixComment

son of a bitch! mine is bigger!Originally posted by MystikalThat is an E34 wheel. Look at the bottom spoke and compare it to mine:

Slightly logner on yours, and very slightly differently shaped. I noticed it immediately when I saw your pics.
how the hell did this happen :(
i guess i'll have to buy another one on ebay.. and then toss this one up..Comment
