Does anyone know if there is a current source for a retrofit kit to install the Morimoto Bi-LED ballasts on the Euro Smileys? ESG prints appears to no longer produce them.

May not be exactly what you want but you can use a Motorcycle 5.75 LED light housing. You can a fix it to the inside of the existing headlight bucket assembly.

If I were to do that would I retain the original glass and smiley reflector plate?

I recently completed a bi-xenon conversion in my DEPO Smiley's and have a few friends asking about a conversion kit for the US Ellipsoids. I'm picking one up this weekend to start working on the design process. I can keep you in loop if this is something you're still interested in.

Any details on how you did your conversion? I have some Euro headlights but thinking about picking up some DEPO's at some point and doing a bi-xenon conversion.

I have a kit developed for the Euro Hella's & DEPO headlights along with US Ellipsoid & Bosch Smiley. The OE projector is removed and new adapter with the Morimoto projector is installed in the stock housing using the factory mounting points. I sell a full kit as a turn key solution shipped to your door utilizing the DEPO Euro glass style headlights. Plug and play connectors for 9005/9006 & H4 cars means no extra wiring needed. My adapter reuses the headlight seal to ensure a weather tight seal between the headlight bucket and MLED projector adapter. Printed out of a PA12 nylon making them super rigid with a high tensile strength & low moisture absorption. 5052 aluminum backer mounting plate acts as a heatsink to disperse heat and provide rigid mounting for the projector.
I currently also support a full HID kit for the Euro Hella/DEPO, US Ellipsoid, and Bosch Smiley. The MLED will fit in all E30 headlights except for the sealed Sylvania H4’s and Bosch Smileys at this point.

I also offer the 'DIY' kit solution if you want to retrofit your current headlights. My website is working but still majorly under construction.

That's awesome - appreciate you sharing this! I'm just getting my E30 back on the road, so it will be some time, but I've always wanted to retrofit some modern internals for better lighting. All of the solutions I was aware of are no longer in business.

Any chance of a DIY kit for the HID version? Old guy here but I just don't like the color temperature of LED's.
