galvanized steel from lowes, its thin enough that it can be worked without real trouble, i matched the contour of the front of the wheel wells and used a scrap piece and rivets to reinforce where i had to split it to get the contour right

T Verdier, great post about having to reverse the connectors. A couple minutes ago I installed my kit (55w slimline) and pulled the light switch... nothing!

I panicked a little and then ran inside and did a search... found your post and now everything works! Thank you very much!

are you guys ordering the raptor slims or the apexcone 3/4? Apexcones are like $77 to my door, and they're in san diego!

are they euro ellips or us? both are pretty easy. for the euros just twist off the black caps on the back of the lights. then take out the existing bulbs by unclipping them and pulling out the two small wires (should be a red "hot" and a black "ground"). you will need to drill a small hole with a spade bit (maybe .5in or so) through the black cap to put the hid bulb through and to put the rubber grommet on. the ballast will just plug into the bulb and the bulb will just plug into the two small wires. then just attach the ballast to your car so it doesnt move around. i used velcro. then your ready to roll out 8-)

i need to get a definitive answer. im going to install the 55w 6k ddm 9006 kit into my US ellipsoids tonight and im wanting to confirm that it is indeed just plug and play. i know the fogs/euro smilies/etc require drilling, splicing and whatever else. will i need only a few screws and or velcro to secure the ballasts? thanks ahead. flame suit on.

Yes, plug n play. Like posted above, there is a chance you may need to swap wires (black and red). i just installed two DDM kits, in an Acura and a Nissan, and the Acura needed the wires swapped, but the Nissan didn't.

I installed a set of 35w Apexcone hid kit for my e30 a few weeks ago and the ony reason why it was plug n play was b/c I bought a set of adaptors from matt on this forum for $20. I am not certain, but if you don't have those adaptors you will need to do some cutting since stock lights are sealed beam connectors? Correct me if i'm wrong.

In regards to the hid lights I kinda want to try out the 55w to compare the two. The 35w are bright, but not as bright as the hid's on the e90 and e92s
