Hey Trooper I noticed your lights were far brighter before than now. Perhaps it's time to replace the ballasts/bulbs already!

I've already posted this a couple times in the last few days but I might as well post it here for reference purposes. VVME 4300k 55w

I installed my xentec setup today on a set of US ellips I just got in the mail. The 5000k seem a bit blue for sure - but the light is more white than the headlights make it appear. Also, one of my ballasts was dead right out of the box.

I'll post pics later - I did 5000k on the highs and lows.

here is the difference between the Xentec "5000K" bulbs and the true 4300K Morimoto bulbs I just got in.

Morimoto on the drivers side, Xentec on pass side

Morimoto has about 2 minutes run time on it in this pic. still a bit white (against backdrop) but MUCH better than the blue on the pass side.

Here is a direct pic on the bulbs themselves. Morimoto is much better built, with the ceramic mount holding it to the base, as opposed to nothing on the Xentec.

The ballasts seem to be OK, but their grading on bulbs seems to be a bit inaccurate to say the least. They say a 50 hr time to get accurate results, but I dont see it. 5000K with them is BLUE.

see post below comparing to the Morimoto 4300K bulbs I just bought in.

dont you have fxr projectors? I might be confusing you with somebody else.

quick question, I picked up some US ellipsoids that I plan on baking and smoking them the proper way. If I were to use 55w vs 35w bulbs/ballasts is there any extra step I need to take or same as installing 35w HIDs?

third option, the bulb is not tight in the housing. I tightened the tabs on the pass side, so the bulb does not move around at all. there is some slight wiggle in the drivers side, so the bulb is not accurately positioned. Ill be fixing that when I install the morimotos.

I dont mind the yellow, hell the halogens were, I just want more light output.

Might be, could also be just the angle of the camera, I dont notice a difference at night. I also just replaced pass side low beam housing, so its probably a bit cleaner as well
You will be much happier with the Morimoto bulbs. The light output is good, and people won't confuse you for a Civic. They have that OEM blue/violet look when you look at the car from 20ft away at night, and the light they they put onto the road is nice & white (you really will feel like it is yellow after having your current bulbs, but it is much whiter than the light from Halogens).
