Back to the audio... Stopped by the shop to check on progress.
The first coat of paint is on the e46 armrest. The hazard switch spot will hold the subwoofer control knob.
The Mosconi amps have been mounted under the front passenger seat. Some painters tape to protect them while waiting for the seats to return.
Arm rest fitted nicely--the thing is solid. Doesn't move at all.

The speakers have all arrived from Italy. Here are the details--all Audio Development.
The fronts are true separates--there will be an active crossover done in the DSP in the Mosconi 6|8 (6 channel) amp.
Front tweeters = Audio Development T100
Front 5 1/4" midrange = Audio Development W50
Rear 4" = Audio Development W500NEO
If the magnets look small, it's because they are neodymium magnets. We chose this line of speakers specifically for the quality and neo magnets to accommodate the shallow enclosures of the e30 without heavy modifications that would have been required to fit the Focals...
Front W50 Midwoofer:
Front T100 tweeters installed in the OEM tweeter bracket:

Illusion Audio C10 shallow subwoofer. The install shop is building a custom footwell subwoofer in the passenger footwell. They do this all the time for old Porsches and did one for my e46 convertible. Huge difference over putting it in the trunk... This is the only sub that they use for the footwell applications--years of trial and error to find the best down firing sub for a shallow footwell.
Here are some test pics so far. They're rewrapping it now as they weren't happy with how the black matched:
Test fitting the sub.

I saw these picture online today and fell in love... I think I'm going to do a two tone interior with black and natural brown. I'll already have the black carpet installed, so will wrap the door panels, trim, and tonneau cover in black with natural brown inserts.

Your door and rear panels are just covered in on piece of vinyl that can all be peeled off. Any can easily recover those in black vinyl. I would suggest just spraying your footwell panels black or finding a replacement set in black.Last edited by Mike36; 02-20-2024, 06:04 PM.sigpic
