Good luck with that. The Alpine setup is the best to date, hands down. I didn't go for a compatible Alpine deck because I just didn't like the appearance as much as my Clarion (personal taste, that's all). As for the iPod, you'll love it. I have two. Of course my wife now wants to get rid of her original 5GB and get a new click-wheel iPod to use the host of accessories out there for them. As for encoding with iTunes, my co-worker, a true audiophile, likes using AAC at 192bit. I wouldn't recommend converting existing MP3 to AAC, codec hopping like that can degrade the quality a little bit.

Meh, if you're gonna be all anal, buy a big iPod and rip all your songs in WAV.

And this is the ipod you buy for the intsall. Seriously, could it be more perfect for an E30's interior?

Personaly, I'm in my car to drive and not fiddle around with a bunch of CDs, so when I get the $$ I'm puttin' in the Alpine setup. I will take the convenience over that small of a clarity difference any day.

BTW - How much did that Alpine setup end up costing you?
