This is pretty awesome. I had my box made to fit around the spare tire well and fire a single 10 through the same place you fit your 4" port, however I ran the port right into the box. I still have the majority of my trunk available and stacked my three alpine Pdx amps where the battery goes on a coupe.
5" morel subs in the kick panels, stock kick panel cover removed, morel grill fit to location. Pdx 2.150 powering.
Morel supremo tweeters (the big ones, not piccolo) in custom enclosure just beyond door pulls on door panels. Morel hybrid ovation mid drivers also in the same enclosure. Pdx 4.100 powers these.
All run active with imprint through alpine 9887 head unit.
Single alpine 1043R in trunk fed by Pdx 1.600.
As the pro here says, you can spend a ton of money on it (I have the port actually through the rear seat with custom upholstery) or you can pay somebody to do proper math to check the physics of the space.
I am on the fence for one of these for my other vert.
Convertible Box? No way! Lets chat.

Hey guys, here is a quick update.
Building the amp rack on this car has been one of the most frustrating things I have done yet. Keep in mind, this is not just me building an install for one trunk and getting it done, but this has to be repeatable and pretty much a flawless fit, and be able to be installed by anyone, easily. What that means is a bunch of measurements, and keep trying until it is perfect.
Well, here is the prototype of the 5th version of the E30 Convertible Amp Rack:

This will fit most 5 channel amps and lots of other combinations as well. You will have a space that is 10" X 34" X 3", that should fit just about anything, as long as the wires are "end mounted" and not on the long face.
Keep in mind, this will have a plexiglass window, be upholstered in a nice "near perfect" grey carpet, 2 fans to cool the amps and an LED strip to light the trunk. You will want to convert your stock light to LED, or just do away with it altogether.
We are hoping to start shipping the 'vert boxes and racks this week. If you are interested, please let me know, I only plan on building 5 of these and 3 are pre-sold.

Oh Man! Just what I have been waiting for. I NEED something like that in my Vert. Keep us posted on that! Any idea how much something like that would be? Wish you were on the east coast. Shipping might get $$$

Let me say this: yes, I do custom, "one off" stuff...but it is WAY more expensive. The only reason I can build the level of product I do at the prices I sell them for is that I mass-produce everything.
I would be more than willing to give you some ideas so you can build your own amp rack...you could make something beautiful in there pretty easy.

Yours fits completely under that area? What do you think of designing an amp rack inside the tonneau?Leave a comment:

I would have no way to get the bass in the car at all. If you put it under the tonneau, it will only rattle the tonneau.Luke,
Have you considered drawing some plans up for bass fitment under the tonneau cover? (for those of us without soft tops)
Can you and I talk pricing on custom blueprints? It's either that or I have to talk one of my relatives into picking up the enclosure from you in WA :)
Mine fits completely under that area though...but still working out some details with the amp rack, sadly.Leave a comment:

Hmmm. Should I let the cat out of the bag yet?
OK, here is a little teaser: I am going to be using a pair of these in a bad-ass 'vert box soon.

(not my pic, just something off the intarwebz)
Yes, the amps will be in the spare tire well and yes the box will have a window, and yes, it will all be hidden until you want to show it. Expect it to be MUCH bigger dollars and might only be available with woofers and amps installed...but if you want to drop jaws, this might be for you. Oh yeah, almost forgot it will have a space for a rear battery, but you will lose your harmonic battery thingie.

Anyone want to trade me some 8's for my 12w7 (brand new in the box) so I can put them in one of these boxes?Leave a comment:
