I just pulled my 87 325is cluster apart to replace the odometer gears last week. Put it back together, put 200 miles on it, no issues. Then the other day, the odometer stopped spinning again and the MPG gauge pegged at 40. I tapped the dash a few times, the odometer started spinning, but stopped .2 miles later. The MPG gauge didn't come back to life though. However, if I rev the engine to 3k or more in any gear, the MPG gauge goes from pegged at 40, to pegged at 0. Then when the RPM's drop below 3k, it goes back to pegged at 40. My speedometer works great, always has. My OBC works, and is recording accurate average MPG.
I figure something must be loose, or I have a bad connection or something. But when I had the cluster apart last week, I was looking for any bad solder joints, etc... and everything looked good.
Ideas?
