New odometer gears, now my speedo is dead. What did I break?

I swapped in new Motometer gears from Garagistic, and now my speedometer is not reading. It's entirely possible that I either broke something or plugged something in wrong (or not at all. What did I miss?

Also, there is a black, two-prong connector that fits into the green connector on the bottom of the speedometer. I'm not sure into which slot the black connector plugs. Does someone have a picture?

Did you use the yellow rubber spacers that came with the gears to space them out so that the teeth mesh? If you didn't, then that's the problem.

Oh you said the speedo isn't working. In that case you may have damaged the circuit board or solder joints while changing the gears.

If your speedo doesnt work but your odometer does, you broke something. Take it apart and inspect. Maybe the needle is stuck on something or you did not put the odometer assembly back together correctly.

Neither the speedometer nor the odometer works now. I'm thinking that I plugged something in worng or possibly broke something else. I'll be taking it out tonight.

Did you forget the wires that go into the green connector on the speedo?

I plugged those in, but I'm not sure if they're in the right slot. Is there a picture of the right place in which to plug those?

All the slots in the green connector are common with each other. Electrically all three are connected together so it does not matter which slot you use. BTW that wire is the speed sense wire for the cruise control so it wont have an effect on the speedo/odo.

You need to verify you are getting speed signal from the differential sensor, to the cluster. This wire is brown/red in the white connector. You should see a 1.5-6 volts AC signal with a multi meter. Jack the car up and engage the rear wheels so they are spinning. make sure your meter is set to AC volts.

If you see no voltage or increase in volts with wheel speed, the problem is the wires or rear diff sensor. If signal is there, the problem is in the cluster, which is most likely a broken solder joint on the cluster main board.
