My stereo install/sub located in spare wheel area!!!!!

I think the biggest thing I have done is my new stereo system. To tell you the truth I haven't really cared about the sound of my system since my high school days. What prompted this was a subscription to RDIO and fell in love with music again. My rear speakers were original premiums and i have to say they were pretty damn good, the fronts were garbage infinity speakers that had the cone completely detach from the rubber surround. I really wanted to do something different and since I had a rear strut bar a luke box wouldnt work. My main goal was to have a great sounding system that looked as stock as possible, no neon lights or any crazy stuff.

I think I might go 5 channel amp next. I am running my interior speakers of my Nakamichi CD400.

My friend that did this install has all the measurements from my car and said he can make custom boxes that are carpeted and made to your subs specs for about $240. If this interests you just hit me up and we can work it out. I think it would be too hard to ship so I think if you are local to L.A. we can make it work. He does great work as you can see and is very professional and works fast.

    Amp-Rockford Fosgate Prime R500-1 500-Watt Mono Amplifier

    Front Speakers-Alpine 5.25 type R spr-50c

    Rear speakers-Alpine SPS-510 5.25"

    Sub-SWR-10D2 - Alpine 10" Dual 2-Ohm Type-R Series Subwoofer

And on to the install. Like I said I wanted to do something different and being that I live in LA and have AAA you will see why it wasnt a big deal going the route I did.

Hard to tell but got the new tweeters to fit in the original location.

Aluminum baffle to let the air pass from the sub.

And it all looks stock when closed.

It sounds great and the only thing that rattles is my license plate, double sided tape will fix that. Amp is a little underpowered but I am not trying to get crazy bass, im not a youngin anymore and my ears are already bad from my high school system days.

Very clean looking! Is it a sealed enclosure? I'd like to hear it sometime if u bring it to the van nuys meet.

          Wow, looks great!

(Cant wait until we get our body and strut brace done)

Please make it to the meet, Barry has one of my boxes in at least one of his cars, I would love to see peoples reactions to the differnce.

Any pics of the box itself?

VERY nicely executed. Might use this in one of my other cars. I like the idea of a full trunk.

I will try and get pics of the box and I will most likely make it to the van Nuys meet this month.

You and your buddy did a great job, it looks fantastic. Any idea on the cubic volume of that box? I run 0.70 cu/ft with the same woofer and it sounds amazing, 500 watts too. I believe that was the minimum volume as per Alpine's specs.

Not sure but he made sure it was to spec. He measured before to make sure the sub would work. I love the sound and so does he and he works with high end stuff all the time. I honestly feel like there is a 12" in there because it gets So deep and loud.

@2ean he can make the box for you but will just be carpeted for $240

Wow that looks incredible! What did you use to make the sub surround where it says BMW? I did a similar setup in my E34 wagon although not nearly as cleanly finished. Phenomenal work!

I feel sorry for the gangster you kidnap and toss in the trunk. His head will explode from all the bass!

Looks great! I too would love to hear it if given the chance. Like Luke said, SHOWDOWN!!!
