in my area, if your car alarm goes off, people start walking towards you and stuff!!!

either way, I used to have an alarm, until it stopped working right, so I clipped the speaker and now its just a heavy keyless :D

I have a DEI with a proximity sensor and shock sensors.
The window can be down and if you reach in the alarm will go off.
      A very good deterrent device.

If anyone gets too close it will give a warning and then go off.

It has saved a broken window several times, or was it the AK 47 out my bedroom window...

Either way it was a great investment, and a great piece of mind knowing that my car will make a raquet if tampered with:up:

DEI, Clifford (now owned by DEI), compustar, etc... really if you spend decent money you'll get a quality alarm now-a-days.

If you do not have power door locks, you can add actuators to the alarm so you can lock/unlock your doors. A selenoid can be added to the truck as well to unlock it.

As for diasabling an alarm, you can hide it well and/or get a battery backup siren. These will keep going off even if all the wires are cut to it. Best thing you can do on an e30 is get a hood pin as you can pop the hood from outside the car.

I'm just sick of removing non working alarms from cars I buy...
I'd like a unit thaT can: Good Alarm WITH GOOD motion detection for the interior of the Cabbie IF the top is left down
          Remote start
          Keyless entry
Remote windows (which I dont think is as likely)

no, it's simple a pin switch (like your door uses to turn on the interior light) that will set off the alarm if someone pops the hood. The hood functions as stock.

For me, I'm more concerned with someone breaking into my car and looking for stuff to steal. Most of the time its parked in front of my house. If the alarm goes off, the would be thief better run because I wont be far.

I'm in the same boat. If someone really wants to get into your car, most won't stop at anything to fulfill their quest. Instead of an alarm, I take some precautions to make some wouldbe thief move on to a more rewarding target....like leaving absolutely nothing in sight, not even one loose scrap of paper on the floor. Like the saying goes: if they can see it, they'll steal it. If you're a thief that peers into my car, the only easily removed items you will find are the floormats....and those are usually dirty. As for the exterior, just some dirty euro-weaves and a lowered stance. No tint, no stickers, no bling of any kind. For the most part it looks reasonably clean and very low key.

I feel confident that my car will be left alone while parked outside since the vast majority of cars stolen in my area cater to the Fast & Furious scene.

That's what I have too (Clifford). I don't really care so much about the alarm part though, it just intrigues people more...and makes them mad at the car. I just like the alarm for the remote locks and auto window roll-up.

Convenience features are the best part of an alarm, IMO. I still sell both, but convenience is definitely the biggest draw.

Remote start, window rollup, trunk release, keyless entry.

I will say it again...if it is made in Taiwan, all are the same. Pick the features you want and go for it.

I believe that the quality of the installation is what makes an alarm (or any other electronic component) stable. Crappy grounds, poor voltage, inadequate connections are what keep electronics happy.

I believe that a proper crimp connection is the most reliable connection there is for the automotive environment. No cheap crimpers in my shop, please!

I just ordered a new line of product to complement the Prestige line I currently carry. I am hoping they are as good as the rep says...but I am not holding my breath. A full featured remote start package with 2 2 way transmitters, excellent tech support, etc. is gonna sell for $375 installed. Not too bad, IMO.

I feel that as long as I'm parking next to a car better than mine, they won't bother with my ride. And that's really easy because I own an E30. There's always bound to be some high-class car in the parking lots I park at, a benz here, a porsche there, maybe a lexus, and the occasional ferrari/lambo/lotus/exotic etc.

Has anyone tried the K-9 Mundial?
Thats what im thinking of going with. Seems to have everything necessary, I want it to be loud, but have quite confirmation chirps, keyless entry and when the alarm is set the parking lights & side repeaters flash (looks nice lol) and this system says it does that all, and is very cheap on Ebay.
Ive heard alot of great things about it from owners, and thought a few guys on here said they had it?

                                Thanks
