I tried the stomp test and nothing happened. Any ideas other than testing the TPS?

If not the bulb may be burnt out, or removed.
TPS not reading fully closed throtlle.
Start there, these things working, you may have an issue with the DME.
Good luck
I will check the range of the TPS and report back.

I don't know what my ecu number is but it's a stock e30 m42.
It was working couple months back because it threw an 02 code which I resolved.
It's just that now.. I'm trying to figure out this random hesitation while driving and idling issue and the cel is just on and I can't pull codes.sigpic

I had the same issue on the 87 325i 4dr..it wasnt reading WOT at all so couldnt pull codes. Not only did the new TPS solve that but apparently it wasnt reading idle very well either.
Both problems solved..and drill a 1/8 hole in the plastic cover just above the "S" in Bosch.Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com

I actually found my issue. the throttle position sensor harness wires (m42) were fraying and ended up being cut. Found out when i peeled the boot back then the no DC multimeter test made sense. I now have a working stomp test but because of my lazy splice i'm getting a cel 1216 (TPS sensor though mine is new)sigpic
