Bump. I need new rear speakers on my vert. Have any of you guys been able to fit more modern speakers in or do I need to track down originals?

at some point a PO installed new speakers in mine. They are dual voice so there is a small tweeter mounted in the middle of the speaker. This causes the trim panel which covers the speaker to have a slight dimple. You don't have to get originals, just buy blaupunkt or whatever that's the same size and ohm rating as the originals

it's a Kenny Powers quote on wheelsComment

I run Audiobahns in the rear and on the kickpanel, and I picked up some nice Alpine tweeters from a junker. They're affordable and they actually fit. I figured I might as well bypass my amp too, so I took care of that and now everything sounds perf. ;D

Got it, thanks guys. Next question:
I'm installing a new release handle for the top. I have part 7 in the diagram but it did not come with the barrel pin above part 12. When I got the car, just the cables were there ending after part 14. Do I need that barrel pin? Has anyone else run in to this? I bought the new release handle from Pelican.

The top release handle is a door handle assembly flipped upside down. Any junkyard car will have all the parts that you need. And the "cup" is universal. Only the pull handle is side-specific but the one for the top release is the same as the passenger door handle.Got it, thanks guys. Next question:
