Now with that said......if you hack up your incredibly rare oem hardtop by installing an aftermarket moonroof, you are....well...no offense.......incredibly stupid. Aftermarket moonroofs are shit. Complete crap!!!! The foam seal will be leaking water after a few short years.
For a cabrio purist the leaky hardtop will be just like their leaky soft top. Sounds like a plan to me

Stupid idea. It's a convertible! Just drop the top. Even a hardtop itself defeats the purpose, imo but if i had one i wouldn't try to put a moonroof in it.

Just because most of us have weather that falls from the sky instead of mud slides and earth quakes that rise up from then ground is no reason to look down on us hard toppers.

The beauty of a sunroof is you can pop the back open on a rainy day and stay dry, so I can totally understand why you'd want one in a hardtop for a convertible. That being said I wouldn't buy a hardtop because it just doesn't make sense for me as I plan to retire the bmw from winter duty next year. It would be wonderful to have a glass rear window (and I always loved how merc w123 coupes looked with no B pillar) but for how much money it would cost to buy the top and then paint it body color, I would rather spend the money on something else

Also..something that just occurred. A sunroof requires water drains, which would be impossible for the bmw e30 convertible hardtop sunroof. I mean I guess if you only drive the car in sunny weather but then what's the point? To look cool? Just put the top down...

I live in Florida and use my hardtop opposite of how most northerners use them. I put mine on in the summer when it get unbearably hot and with daily afternoon showers. My hardtop does not leak, contrary to my soft top. My winters are so mild that I take my hardtop off. I get to go topless from late fall, through the winter and well into spring before I put my hardtop back on. The only reason that I wanted to put a non-opening moon roof in my hardtop is because it is so dark and closing when I have the hardtop on with my tinted windows. I don't think leaking would be a problem with just a moon roof. It is not difficult to seal the glass in. I am not concerned about the value of my hardtop as I don't foresee selling either it or my vert. I have turned down offers for more than its worth. After I am gone or can't drive, who gives a flip!
