zipper roof conversion

howdy yall,

im ready to drop the $$$ to have my top replaced. The existing top on it has the sewn in window and id really rather replace it with the zip in window but for some reason im having trouble finding someone selling the zip in windows or any confirmation that they are indeed interchangeable...i cant imagine how they wouldnt be.

jeffnhiscars bought a replacement zip out window. I did too after I saw he did, but I don't remember who I bought it from lol.

I have bought both the zip-in and sew-in windows from emiata. Apparently emiata doesn't sell the zip-in anymore, they send you to hans auto parts.

If you buy a top with a sew-in window, it's not going to have the zipper for a zipper replacement in the future. I suppose you could sew a zipper onto the sew-in top, but that sounds like almost the same amount of work as just sewing in a replacement window (which is a huge pain in the ass).

If you want the ability to use a zip-in replacement in the future, make sure your new top comes with a zipper.

Emiata does not nor have they to my knowledge ever sold tops. I've been to their factory and that's not what they do.

if you're replacing your entire top perhaps someone's sells one with a zip in window. As for retrofitting I'd say that requires an exception amount of skill...not for the meek

Ah, thanks for clarifying that! Yes i am looking to replace my entire top with one that has the zip in window. having more trouble finding that than i expected...
